an aching desire to travel that is so profound that it makes you feel a sense of "homesickness" for a far-off place.

It's “farsickness."

It's the travel-ache you can't translate.

It's longing for unfamiliar places.

It's the feeling of missing somewhere you've never been.

It's an unexplainable force that only those who experience it themselves will deeply understand.

As time goes on, I am more & more aware that I'm most fulfilled when I'm traveling. It lights me up! ✨

When I'm somewhere for more than a few years (months, weeks, days), I can feel myself getting restless, agitated, frustrated & utterly lost… but not the “right” kinda’ lost!

I can be the happiest, most satisfied & content I’ve ever been, surrounded by a phenomenal tribe, with an incredible career, an amazing salary, a roof over my head, good food in my belly, & be full of gratitude… but it’s like there's something in my bones that drives me to seek more.

It's like an evolutionary migration switch embedded in my soul, only satiated by chasing new experiences, in a place that’s beyond my current horizon.

It’s the need to embark on a pilgrimage & voyage to distant lands (or planets!)

It's a feeling like I’m missing out on “living” by being in any one place for too long.

It’s the fear of wasting precious years getting caught in the humdrum of a monotonous work-life existence, & being consumed by material shit, when there's a whole wide world to discover.

It's an annoying, niggling, nagging, poking lil' spark within me that's yearning to be ignited.

… & my bank account absolutely doesn’t support it! 🤣

🎄 That’s a wrap! Our attempt at Christmas photos hit me in the giggle box! 😂

As the holiday season unfolds, I want to take a moment to say how bloody grateful I am for my life here in the USA with @bulls_n_buckles & Oscar-Puppy. I’m thankful for all the amazing opportunities & adventures we’ve had.

At the same time, I’m a lil’ homesick. I miss my family & all the familiarity of being surrounded by my friends in Australia. It’s tough to be so far away from the people & places I love, especially during the holiday season. So I truly feel for those in the same boat — be it away from family, or whom may be spending the holidays alone.

Despite the distance, I’m hella’ thankful for the technology that lets me stay connected & able to share in all their shenanigans. And even though I’m not there with them, I’m sending all my love & good vibes their way.

As we say goodbye to another year & welcome a new one, I want to wish you a bloody awesome 2023 full of great shit & more of what sets your soul on fire. Here’s to chasing our dreams, making the most of every day, & living life to the fullest.

Or if it’s a year of finding stillness & peace that you crave — wishing you tranquility & reflection for the year ahead.

PS. Stay tuned, because I have a feeling that 2023 is going to be a big year for us! I’m already making plans to visit my homeland & reconnect with my roots. It’s been too bloody long, & I can’t wait to see what the new year has in store.

For those of you playing at home, they call this badboy a “drop barrel”, “practice barrel”, “bucking barrel” or in my words, “The See Saw!”

We shall call her Mystery, because… “Weesnaw!” (If you know, you know!) #spongebob

This contraption is used to simulate the bucking action of a bull to help with technique… & to help you look like a true wackadoodle riding a 44gallon drum in the backyard!

Before you ask:

No, I have not been on it.

Yes, you will know if I gracefully dismount off it with my face! 😂🫣

So stoked to finally watch my cowboy play with his new team @arizonahawks (especially as my Australian Rules (AFL) team is @hawthornfc "HAWKS" too!)

I lasted a few seconds of trying to speak bullropeinese, before I threw my hands up & declared, "Bugger that! You can order your own bloody rope!" 🤯🤣

𝗦𝗼 𝗜 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 @bulls_n_buckles 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀:-

"First, I want to pick the block for my rope.

It can be a traditional Brazilian block, Fancy block, an American block or many other variations in all different shapes & sizes.

There's a lot of personal preference, so you do whatever works for you.

I use a Brazilian style rope with an American block because a Brazilian style rope seems to get hung up less.

Whereas an American block rolls over better so I can get off my ass when I ride, & ensure I am to the front of my bull on every jump to make for a successful ride.

A Brazilian style block is great for riders who bear down & ride with more strength.

Then you are looking at what kind of handle you want.

Plaits on your handle can be a 9 plait, 7 or 5. This is the variation in stiffness/how many strands are in the plait, 9 being the hardest.

They also come in different types of leather eg. full lace, half lace, full skip lace & so on.

Then you choose what plait tail you want.

They come in a 9 plait, 7 or 5 plait. You get variations such as baby 9, all in soft or a mushy 5.

The tail also varies in width. You can get it in a full inch or smaller.

Then you've got the body of your rope. It may be a double braid which makes for an easier pull or Poly which is traditional.

Poly ropes with a nylon wear strip generally get stuck when you pull your rope, so I avoid these."
